Final Project
For this project I had no idea were to start, and I first had ideas of making a skinny pig, so I started off with the pig head. Later on however, I decide to make a alebrije later on. It has the torso of a man, and tentacles like a octopus (only 5). I decide to later on put a skin colored under-glaze, and after it dried I put on a pattern. This piece turned out how I wanted, and I'm very happy with it.
Slab Project
During this project, I had to learn to roll out even slabs and cut them out evenly. I didn't know were to start with this project so I started by making 3 rectangles and a square, and then later decided to make another rectangle. The process of getting these to leather hard took a while, and that is because the weekend would come before they were leather hard and then they would dry out completely. After I finally got the Pieces together I decide to smooth them out so they would look cleaner at the edges, however, I liked the design when smoothing and decided to make a tree looking texture. That, in the end, inspired me to me a hole in one of the slabs like a great willow tree.
Coil Pots
During this project we had to learn how to use coils to add height to pinch pots, or to use coils on a form. My first idea I messed up on and ended up with messy coils. So I decided to use a form to have more of a guideline for my project. The goal is to make coil pot that is a least 8 inches in the end.
Pinch Pots
We had to make 3 pinch pots. To make a pinch pot you must make a dent in the middle like on the wheel and work it down and out to make the desired shape. The technique was hard to master when not using the wheel and found the rotating and pinching the side makes the walls even. I ended up with a cylinder shape and then decide to pinch the side with my fingers making a coral shape.
Cylinder (6in) and Bowl Project Finshed
During this project we had to make a 6inch cylinder and a bowl, and it helped me learn many tips and tricks when throwing on the wheel. I learned that the wheel has to be drying when throwing it on for it to stick, and that when lifting the walls to use your fingers and make a ring and pull it up slowly. I also learned that if you make a cylinder you can make it into a bowl easily by spreading and curving the walls. I have finished this project and have added texture to my projects.
A few days later after making my first bowl it broke, and It ended up having to make a new bowl. This is the new bowl I made. However, I am still trying to repair my first bowl because it had not been fired yet when it broke.
When making my new bowl it didn't take many tries on the wheel as the first time. I also decided to use no under-glaze, and to instead just glaze it after first fire. This made a beautiful affect, but I think I should of layer just a bit more on the outside. However, the affect on the outside is still beautiful, and looks like wood popping through.

Cylinder (6in) and Bowl Project
I learned how to throw and center better on a wheel during this project. The objective from then was to make a 6 inch tall cylinder. It was hard because I kept making my walls too thin and collapsing my cylinder. It took me 3 times of failing until I finally got it on my 4th attempt were I achieved a 6 1/2 inch cylinder. After the cylinder we had to make a bowl, and currently I have only made the base of my bowl.
Pottery Practice on Wheel
I learned how to wedge the clay in order to get the air out of it for when I put it on the wheel. Then I learned how to center my clay on the wheel and to keep it wet. Our goal is to make a 6 inch cylinder, and 1 bowl. I messed up a few times and it kept collapsing so now I'm restarting.
Stamps
I made these stamps for a project in order to add unique designs to my works. In total I made 3 but 4 stamps. One of them is double sided and another is for my signature at the bottom of my pieces. However some of these stamps don't work as planned and I hope to remake some of them. However some do have a unique potential with my pieces.
